Ethos

At Hoylake Holy Trinity CE Primary School, we are committed to supporting all learners, including those with a wide range of additional needs. These include Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, speech and language difficulties, attachment difficulties, Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Selective Mutism, and physical disabilities such as hearing or visual impairment. We also provide support for children experiencing high levels of anxiety or other mental health challenges.

We promote an inclusive approach to education by adapting our teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of the children in our care. Staff regularly reflect on and develop their practice, taking part in training and professional development to enhance their understanding of Special Educational Needs and to ensure effective, inclusive provision in the classroom.

We understand the importance of personalising the curriculum and learning environment for pupils with SEND, and we do this by offering targeted Teaching Assistant support—whether through small group work or individual 1:1 sessions where appropriate. A range of additional interventions are available to support both academic progress and personal development, including programmes focused on emotional regulation and social skills.

In our classrooms, we provide a variety of helpful resources such as visual aids (including mind maps and visual timetables), writing tools (pens, pencils, rulers, writing slopes), sensory supports (fidget toys, wobble cushions, resistance bands), ICT equipment, and reading overlays. These tools help pupils with SEND to access learning more independently and confidently, alongside their peers.

We work in partnership with a number of external agencies to further support our pupils, including SENAAT, Wirral Inclusion Team, Educational Psychologists, CAMHS, Gilbrook Outreach, Pastoral Support Teams, Wirral Mental Health Support Teams and the Wirral ASC Team.

Building strong, positive relationships with parents and carers is central to our approach. We work closely with families throughout the SEND identification and support process, recognising that this journey can be emotional and sometimes overwhelming. We aim to offer consistent support through regular face-to-face meetings, phone calls, email communication, and our school website.
